El Ejido - TAN 473
Saturday, September 24 - El Ejido
Many artists, family and friends of Colectivo TAN 473 gathered in a bright pink room located about a little tienda with an envious view of Guanajuato, Mexico. The oversized windows were open to let in the strong breeze that comes along with the head of the late afternoon sun. The vibrant balloons bouncing in teh wind set the perfect tone for the exhibition of the artwork done in teh recent workshop. Each of the young artists presented their piece and told about their positive experience in the workshop.
Another workshop was also announced which will begin September 10 and last until the end of November. The workshop participants will learn different techniques including photography and painting, then will help create a community-involved mural along the main street of the neighborhood.
Sábado, 24 Septiembre- Callejón El Ejido
Muchos artistas, familia y amigos del Colectivo TAN 473 se reunieron en la brillante sala rosada arriba de una tienda que tiene una vista envidiosa de la ciudad de Guanajuato, México. Las enormes ventanas estaban abiertas para dejar pasar la brisa fuerte que siempre acompaña al calor del sol de la tarde. Los globos de colores que brincaban en el viento alegraban al ambiente de la exposición del arte hecho en el recién cumplido taller para niños. Cada uno de los participantes mostraba su obra y hablaba de su experiencia positiva en el taller.
También fue anunciado otro taller que comienza el 10 de septiembre y durará hasta el final de noviembre. Los participantes del taller van a aprender varias técnicas como pintura y fotografía Ayudaran a creer un mural comunitario en el callejón principal.

Only 2 Weeks Remain!
Thanks to everyone who has already donated to Celia Rose's Guanajuato Transformation! Without your help, we would not be able to provide the youth of Guanajuato, the girls of Buen Pastor or the surrounding communities with the safe and encouraging environments in which to develop their artistic creations.
There are only two weeks left and we have currently raised $1,075 of our goal of $8,000. Please, donate and share with anyone who you think would be interested. The following links have more information and feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions you have at maverickradar@gmail.com.

El Año de Transformar: Mover
The Year of Transformation: Move
Self-confidence and self-love. Two important feelings that I hope to share with the girls at the Buen Pastor orphanage in Guanajuato while working with Colectivo TAN 473. One of the ways that I would like to do this is through movement.
I grew up dancing... everywhere! I couldn't keep myself from tap dancing in the kitchen, pirouetting on the soccer field and twirling across the stage. And though my experience as a ballerina ended at age 20, I continue to dance today- only not in a tutu. I still crave the feeling of the music and my body combining to express the emotions that I feel but am unable to put into words. I hope to share that excitement with the children in Guanajuato just as my parents gave me that opportunity.
During the 2013 Fall semester, I would like to offer dance and movement classes to the children as part of El Año de Transformar. Not only does dance allow a healthy way to release energy or tension that is felt, it gives confidence and a sense of ownership of one's body.
I would like to combine ballet technique, to strengthen the body, with improvisation that will encourage the girls to move in creative and non-limiting ways. For example, as the music begins, we will all pretend to be algae at the bottom of the ocean. Swaying with the soft current and then, as the music becomes faster, we become jelly fish, then turn into a manta ray, we will change into the waves crashing on the beach and end as a the bubbles swirling back into the great blue sea.
My plan is, for the month of November, to work on a performance inspired by the classic The Nutcracker. Local musicians will do a rendition of the beautiful music to which we will choreograph new dances. At the beginning of the holiday season I would like to organize performances in a few plazas in Guanajuato's historic town center to share our excitement and love with the community.

Confianza en si mismo y amor propio. Dos sentimientos importantes que espero compartir con las nenas del internado del Buen Pastor en Guanajuato mientras trabajando con Colectivo TAN 473. El movimiento es una de las maneras en que espero lograr eso.
Cuando era pequeña bailaba y bailaba... por todas partes! No me podía parar de bailar en la cocina, dando vueltas en el campo de futbol y brincando por el escenario. Y aunque mi experiencia como bailarina se acabó cuando tenía 20 años, sigo bailando hoy... pero sin tutu. Las ganas no se me quitan de poner la musica y fundir mi cuerpo con el sonido para mostrar la emoción que siento pero no puedo expresar en palabras. Espero compartir mi amor del baile con los jovenes de Guanajuato como mis padres a mi me lo compartieron.
Durante el primer cuatrimestre, quiero ofrecer clases de danza y movimiento como parte del Año de Transformar. Les provee una manera saludable de soltar energia o quitarse de la tensión tanto como les da confianza y un sentido de propeidad de su cuerpo.
Me gustaria combinar parte de la técnica de ballet clasico con improvisación para animar a los participantes moverse en maneras creativas y sin limites. Quiero, en el mes de noviembre, crear un performance inspirado por El Cascanueces. Musicos de Guanajuato van a crear una interpretación de la musica y vamos a hacer nueva coreografía. Al principio de las posadas la idea es hacer los performance en algunas de las plazas del centro histórico de Guanjauato para compartir nuestra emoción y amor con la comunidad.
Por favor, ayudame hacer este sueño realidad! Donar aquí y comparte con tus amigos!

El Año de Transformar: Crecer.
The Year of Transformation: Grow.
As part of my year with Colectivo TAN 473 I would like to plant a garden at the Buen Pastor for the girls to tend. The garden would be primarily edible fruits, vegetables and herbs and they would have the opportunity to see the entire life cycle of the plants and then, as the plants ripen, we will come up with meals using the food harvested from the garden.
Working in the garden will not only provide the girls with responsibility but a sense of fulfillment in seeing the literal fruits of their labor. I look forward to using the garden as inspiration for different creative projects.
For example, the girls will make sketches and observations in their Cuadernos that will, at the end of the year, allow them to look back and see how the plants progressed from seed to stem, then leaves, flower and finally fruit.
The beauty of what nature provides for us and the necessity of its bounty are often overlooked as fast food and supermarkets offering pre-made, packaged meals become prevalent in our societies. I hope to engage the girls in their relationship with the Earth and inspire them to be aware of how well they maintain their planet as well as their bodies.

Como maestra y artista en Guanajuato y Colectivo TAN 473 quiero crear un jardín en el Buen Pastor al que pueden cuidar las niñas. El jardín contará con vegetales comestibles y plantas de olor. Las niñas tendrán la oportunidad de ver por completo el ciclo de vida de las plantas y, una vez listas, haremos menus y platos utilizando las verduras y frutas.
Trabajar en el jardín no sólo dará a las niñas responsabilidad sino también el sentido de cumplimiento al ver los frutos de su trabajo. Me encanta la idea de usar el jardín como inspiración para diferentes proyectos creativos.
Por ejemplo, las niñas harán bocetos y observaciones en sus Cuadernos que, al final del año, les da una vista completa de como se transformen las plantas desde semilla a tallo, luego hojas, flores y después la fruta.
La belleza de eso que nos ofrece la naturaleza y la necesidad de su generosidad son muchas veces ignoradas mientras las cadenas de comida rápida y los mercados con sus comidas envueltas de plástico llegan a ser más prevalentes. Espero inspirar una relación entre las niñas y la tierra, animarlas a estar consciente de la importancia de cuidar a su planeta tanto como a sus cuerpos.
